“Simple Tin” The Sequel

11 May

In yesterday’s post I showed you some cool ideas that would help you convert your Tin Cans into cool and recycled items. Today we step it up another notch in “Simple Tin” The Sequel and show you some artisan pieces. Many variations of these cool items can be found on etsy and generally online.

This mirror made out of pop cans is really cool! The colourful mosaic look is something that can be achieved or you could use one colour. Squares could be cut larger. Be careful – since a project like this means exposing the sharp edges of tin.

Needed:

Metal Cutter

Mallet

Gloves

Stud Tack

Backing Board

Mirror

Cross Roads Part II

20 Feb

Just a follow-up on the previous “Cross Roads” post.

There are many Crafters and Artists that are doing some really cool work with the CROSS theme.

Etsy.com seems to be one of the places to explore and purchase a variety of cool pieces.

You can find many of these Artisans and their work on Etsy.com

As a Multi-Media Artist, I am a big advocate for promoting all Artistic Projects.

I have a passion for all things natural and really enjoy seeing the use of metal, wood, glass, stone, textiles in Art & Design

Green ~ Reclaiming ~ Re-purposing ~ re-C.R.E.A.T.E.

Using non-natural products when creating a piece of ARTWORK is way cooler than filling a landfill site

Enjoy!

Cross Roads

18 Feb

One of the oldest designed concepts I find very fascinating is the symbol of

the CROSS

Image

Its design simplicity has been around for a very long time.

For many the CROSS bears social and religious connotations that are bound by history.

Imagecross  (krôs)

a. An upright post with a transverse piece near the top

b. A crucifix.

c. A medal, emblem, or insignia, form of a cross

d. A mark or pattern formed by the intersection of two lines

As an Artist I enjoy the natural simplicity of its design and the potential the cross offers an artist for expressing individual creativity.
Today we see its theme and form used in interiors, music, literature, art, furniture, design, architecture and signage.
Check out the following Artisan pieces that have been transformed.

Sticks and Stones…

I love the idea of working with and gathering natural resources…

WOOD~STONE~METAL~GLASS~TEXTILES

When you take the opportunity to embrace these natural products in your everyday life it is both amazing and inspiring.

Creating art from re-purposed materials is an empowering feeling knowing that your footprint is just a little bit smaller

There is so much in our everyday lives that seems to go to waste

They say one mans garbage is another mans treasure

I naturally treasure hunt everyday

I enjoy all things natural, their natural beauty

Re-purpose naturally

Au Natural Reflections

27 Jan

When one stops to look around and really take in what the world naturally has to offer, it can be a beautiful thing.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Welcome to this forum of reflections on things that are natural artifacts of this earth or have started that way and have now become useful items in our lives.

By re-purposing, reclaiming, reusing, and recycling we can naturally restore the balance within our daily lives.

I am here to share my thoughts on the integration of the old with the new, the natural with the produced and the green with the rainbow.

Reverting back to all things NATURAL can really be a beautiful and cool thing.

More to come…
